SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity, established in 1885. It provides comprehensive support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families across the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force. SSAFA’s services encompass practical, emotional, and financial assistance, addressing issues such as addiction, relationship breakdown, financial difficulties, homelessness, mental health challenges, and disability. Their worldwide network of over 3,400 volunteers ensures personalized support is accessible locally and internationally. Key programs include Forcesline, a confidential helpline; mentoring for service leavers; housing advice; support for families with additional needs; and specialized services for Gurkha communities. SSAFA also manages accommodation facilities like Norton House for families of injured personnel and provides support to veterans within the criminal justice system. Their holistic approach aims to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community faces challenges alone.
